Flaxseeds, also known as linseeds, are a rich source of micronutrients, dietary fiber, manganese, vitamin B1, and the fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid, also known as ALA or omega-3. Some call this seed the most powerful plant foods on the planet. That’s saying quite a lot. There is some evidence it may help reduce your risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes. That’s a lot to say about this small seed. Recent studies have suggested that the flaxseed may have a protective effect against breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer.
There have also been studies where it’s been found that cholesterol levels lowered among men who included flaxseed in their diet. It can also improve blood sugar if you consume flaxseed every day. Among these there are many many other benefits to consuming flaxseeds.
